Minutes of the KPARC Meeting of March 1, 2010

 

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dick Bishop at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Clubhouse Craft Room. The following officers were present: President Dick Bishop, Vice President Joe White, Secretary Sam Brandes.

 

The meeting opened with President Dick Bishop welcoming all members and guests.

 

Show and Tell

Bob Hibbard demonstrated a recently purchased mini flash drive and a portable computer keyboard.

 

Reading of Minutes of February 1, 2010 Meeting

A motion was made, seconded and passed to dispense with the reading of the minutes since minutes are emailed to all members.

 

Announcements, Correspondence, Notices, Reports

The Newsletter and Calendar will now be posted on our website (kparc.org) rather than emailing to every member. However, an email will be sent to each member notifying them that the newsletter is available. This will encourage members to visit the website to access events and information.

Tom Cooney has planned the nest Fox Hunt and will make an email announcement about several

changes.

 

The KPARC weather station glitches seem be on the mend thanks to Weather Station Manager

Alan Blackwell K9YI.

 

The club room monitors are working out great. There is a need for a Wednesday morning

monitor. Anyone interested in filling that slot please contact Bev Wilson, KI4TYZ.

 

The Tuesday afternoon work day needs support. There are several projects that need to be

completed. All projects are list on the white board in the club room.

 

Jim Bruggerman, KA9EGM continues to work on the amateur television station (ATV) he will

be happy to have some help with improving the station operation.

 

A new technology was introduced to the club by Dick Bishop and Tom Cooney. Winmor is

similar to Winlink but has more features and improvements. Interested? See Dick or Tom.

 

Mini classes are offered by Mike Burks and Tom Cooney on QRP and digital modes during the Tuesday morning club room hours. Contact Mike or Tom for information.

 

The Ladies Day Out Luncheon will be at Mimiís in Brandon. Contact Rita Hale, Annette Friolet or Virginia Rihm for reservations.

 

A Technicians License Class will be offered this spring. Contact Anita Akridge for information.

 

Kings Point Community Festival will be March 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. KPARC will set up VHF and HF rigs. Dick Bishop ask members to be at the club room at 9:00 a.m. to help set up.

 

Bob Hibbard announced that the QCWA meeting will be on March 19th at the Alpha House (Apollo Beach Blvd., Apollo Beach) at 11:30 a.m... Everyone is welcomed.

 

The president reminded everyone about the trip to the EOC on March 31st. Please contact Dottie Love for reservations.

 

Program

Dick Bishop introduced Fred Hendershot N3BUL who gave a very interesting video presentation on the MOSI amateur radio station.
